Web/Perl Developer

Daily.co.uk is seeking a Web/Perl Developer to join their existing development team in Chilwell, Nottingham. We're one of the UK's leading providers of web-hosting, domain registration, VPS and related products.

Candidates for the Web/Perl Developer vacancy should have a demonstrable ability in HTML, CSS, Perl and MySQL development, an understanding of OO design, and strong problem-solving skills. The role covers the whole product life cycle from design to maintenance and working with operational staff and support to constantly improve products and systems. Specific technologies/platforms used include: Apache/mod_perl, Template Toolkit, MySQL, Git, Powershell, server virtualisation, Linux and Windows.

Required skills:

• Minimum one year experience developing applications using Perl as a primary job role in a commercial environment.
• Good working knowledge of relational databases and database design (particularly MySQL)
• Experience of object oriented design and development

Desirable:

• Experience in other programming languages
• Exposure to service oriented architectures (SOA)

System/Network Administrator

Daily.co.uk is seeking a System/Network Adminstrator to join their existing team in Chilwell, Nottingham. We're one of the UK's leading providers of web-hosting, domain registration, VPS and related products.

The role will require systems administration knowledge of both Linux and Windows systems. Knowledge of CentOs 5.6 and above, Windows 2008(R2) and virtualization technologies such as Hyper-V and Parallels Virtuozzo would be an advantage. Any prior exposure to managing Cisco,HP and Dell switches would also be useful.

The job will include on-going training for any new systems we develop within the company, so a keen desire to learn new technologies is key.

Your tasks will include but not be limited to:

• Regular and prompt updating and patching of servers.
• Management of backups and tape rotations.
• Provisioning servers.
• Maintenance and troubleshooting systems.
• General network administration including updating of switch configurations.
• Management of firewalls
• Server installation, racking and cabling.
• Handling escalated systems administration tasks from the support team
• On-going investigation into improving system and network performance.

Required:

Applicant must...

• Have a full UK driving license and own a car
• Be available for on call rotation
• Have at least 2 years system administration experience

Preferable:

• Experience of scripting in Shell Scripting or Powershell
• Redhat/Microsoft/Cisco or similar recognised professional qualifications
