Role: Junior Systems Administrator (Permanent)

A motivated and eager-to-learn individual is required to expand the existing highly skilled development/Systems/Network Administration team at fast-growing web hosting company, Daily Internet.


The role will require basic demonstrable Systems Administration knowledge in both Windows 2008 and Linux systems. Knowledge of networking is a strong advantage.

This is a Junior position so plenty of ongoing training will be given on all systems within the company, however the successful applicant will also be keen to self-teach.


Tasks will include:

  • Regular and prompt updating and patching of servers.
  • Management of backups and tape rotations.
  • Provisioning servers.
  • Maintenance and troubleshooting of systems.
  • General network administration, updating of switch configurations.
  • Management of firewalls.
  • Server installation, racking and cabling.
  • Handling escalated systems administration tasks from the support team.
  • Ongoing investigation into improving system and network performance.

Applicant must...

  • Have a full UK driving licence with own transport.
  • Have strong problem-solving skills.
  • Be available for on-call rotation.

Preferable

  • Experience of scripting in Perl/Shell Scripting/Powershell.
  • Redhat/LPI/Microsoft/Cisco or similar recognized professional qualifications.

Salary: Negotiable
